Mode/Means of Display Consider how you might want to display your 3rd project. Is it a wall piece or does it live on a pedestal? Remember, pedestals don't always have to be white cubes. What height of the room does it live in? Come up with 10 ideas and do some quick sketches. Multiples in Other Mediums
Consider this presentation (given on Thursday) and write a response. What mediums/artists interested you? How might your Project 3 relate to these? Write a page worth. Looking forward How has your understanding of sculpture evolved since taking this course? How has your understanding of repetition evolved since taking this course? What are your thoughts on object making? Work on Project 3 this week
Email your Project 3 sheet to me by midnight Tuesday 2/28. Also, you must turn in a cost of materials sheet and the amount of time/labor that went into your piece. This is due when you finish your piece, but you should be keeping track as you go. WE need to take a moment from Project 2 to work on 3. I'll meet with you on Friday to figure out how complex your idea is. Then we can figure out how to manage your time appropriately. Brainstorm
Write out 10 idea that you have for Project 3. Circle your top 3-5. Now write out a couple of ways to do the same thing (conceptually) for each. Alternatively, pick 2-3 objects that you want to cast. Then, figure out how to do it. You can add concept and meaning to it later. Maybe jot down a few notes as to why you may be drawn to the object. Play-by-play Write down the order of operations needed for you to complete your idea for Project 3. This will help immensely if you have it done before your meeting with me on Friday. Be specific and include many details. Draw out the steps. Project 3 Sheet Create your own Project 3 Sheet. Use 1 and 2 to guide you. Include a "Must have" section and a "Considerations" section. Also include "Supplies needed" and progress dates. Feel free to write in whatever tense you like, formal or informal is ok. Print and bring to class during Week 7. Free Entry Do whatever you want. Future of multiples in your work Think about what you know now in terms of making multiples. How might this new knowledge enter your work in the future? Create your own assignment as a hypothetical Project 4. Be specific. The more detailed the better. Research Take a look at this page. Read and write a few thoughts. http://www.widewalls.ch/repetition-in-art-artists-photography/
